Olde Brooklyn Bagel Shoppe is a classic NYC bagel shop in Brooklyn that has been in operation since 2010 offering gluten free deli-style bagel sandwiches. We visited with our friend Grace who lives about 5 minutes away and is a regular patron. The shop’s gluten-containing bagels are hand-rolled, kettle boiled, and baked on premises. Unfortunately, the gluten free bagels are not homemade, but they are sourced from a quality supplier: Original Sunshine. These bagels contain wheat, but the gluten has been removed so they might not be appropriate for some gluten free peeps. The shop was careful about preparing the bagels separately, but they don’t have a separate toaster. Accordingly, we wouldn’t call this celiac-safe.
Where is this place? Situated in the Park Slope neighborhood in Brooklyn
When did we go? March 2024
What’s good? The shop has a variety of classic bagel sandwich fillings and a wide variety of schmear flavors. We tried gluten free bagel breakfast sandwiches and bagels with schmear. Although the bagels aren’t homemade, original Sunshine provides a quality product that shines when toasted and adorned with ye olde bagel toppings. The staff was extremely friendly, but the coffee was so-so.
Toast’s opinion? Toast was welcome inside the shop which is too small for seating. We ate our bagels outside on the park benches.

Verdict: Even though the gluten free bagels aren’t made in house, Old Brooklyn Bagel Shoppe enables celiacs to enjoy a classic gluten free bagel experience.
