Olmsted’s GF Gourmet Offerings

Writer: RachaelRachael

Olmsted is a neighborhood restaurant by Chef Greg Baxtrom, an alum of Alinea and Per Se. They have a rotating seasonal menu that highlights fresh produce from local farmers' markets. The really great news is that a lot of their dishes are naturally gluten free! They also offer an adorable garden and funky decor inside including a “lush living wall” of plants.

Where is this place? Located in the Prospect Heights neighborhood in Brooklyn

When did we go? March 2024

What’s good? A large number of entrees and apps on the menu can be prepared gluten free. Their menu isn’t marked, but the waitstaff is very knowledgeable about allergies and can advise when you inquire. One stand out dish was the deep fried broccoli, which is prepared in a separate fryer using a rice-based batter. The salmon was also fantastic and 100% gluten free (sadly the pasta is not). We also really enjoyed the froyo for dessert, which comes with whipper honey.

Toast’s opinion? Olmsted has indoor and outdoor seating options. Toast was welcome in both.

Verdict: If you are looking for locally focused fine dining in Brooklynn, Olmsted is the place to be.
